Agency Spotlight Series: Agata Komisarczyk

In this Orientation Marketing agency spotlight series, we speak to Marketing Automation & CRM Implementation Executive, Agata Komisarczyk.

Occasionally, we speak to a member of the Orientation Marketing team to learn more about their roles at Orientation Marketing, as well as what makes them tick.

Today we speak to Agata.

Tell Us a Little Bit About Your Role At Orientation Marketing.

As a Marketing Automation and CRM Implementation Executive, I oversee CRM implementations and lifecycle marketing projects from discovery right through to optimisation. That includes HubSpot configuration, managing data and integrations, building and designing automated customer journeys, delivering effective email marketing campaigns, and providing client training and support so they feel confident using the platform.

A big part of my role is making sure everything works together properly, helping clients get the most out of HubSpot and making their marketing and sales processes much more streamlined and effective.

What does your average day look like?

I usually start my day by checking my emails, reviewing anything that’s come in overnight, and looking at my calendar. Then I go through my to-do list, which helps me stay organised across the different HubSpot accounts and projects I’m working on.

No two days are really the same, which is one of the things I enjoy most about the role. Some days, I’m building workflows and setting up automations; other days, I’m investigating issues and queries, or reviewing campaign performance to see where improvements can be made. It’s a nice balance of creative marketing work and more technical configuration and automation projects, which keeps the work varied and interesting.

How did you come about working in Marketing?

My first interest was actually in media, both new and traditional, while I was at college. I absolutely loved media studies, film, production and editing.

From there, I moved into broadcasting, journalism, and media communications at university, where I learnt more about how different types of communication influence people through different methods and channels. I also found the psychology behind it all really interesting.

In 2018, I moved into digital communications, specialising in CRMs and email marketing. What I like about email marketing is that it’s easy to get wrong, but when it works well, it can be really powerful. That’s what encouraged me to develop my skills further in marketing automation and CRM systems.

Tell us about your best day at the agency so far...

One of the more memorable days in the office was when we did the Easter Duck Hunt, which was a great way to see everyone’s fun side. Watching people run around the office looking for tiny ducks was hilarious. I did not win and didn’t even come close… but I’ll work on my competitive streak for next year.

What inspires you?

I'm someone who genuinely enjoys learning new things, so anything that helps me expand my knowledge is really inspiring. I'm always looking for new podcasts to listen to and they can be about almost anything. Sometimes it's psychology, sometimes it's marketing, and other times it's something completely random like word etymology.

Recommend a book you recently read.

One book I think everyone should read is Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker, which highlights how important sleep really is, it's so vital to everyday functioning and general health and wellbeing.

Another book I really like is The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat by Oliver Sacks. It covers the mysteries of the human mind, what it means to be human and how neurological disorders can put you in the most bizarre scenarios, which makes you realise how complex the human mind is, and how one little thing can completely off balance it.

Recommend a TV series/film you recently watched.

I’ve recently been watching Widows Bay, which combines horror/thriller with very well written and delivered subtle comedy… horror and comedy, two of my favourite things!

How would you spend a million dollars in 24 hours?

As boring as it is, I’d probably just buy a million-dollar house. I’m so indecisive that, by the time I’d decided what else to spend the money on, the 24-hour window would probably be over, so spending it on one good thing feels like the best idea.

If you had a yacht, what would you name it?

It would probably end up nameless and be called N/A, because I’m too indecisive to settle on one. Decision-making has never been my strongest skill.

What skill do you think everyone should learn?

I would say to be curious. Ask questions, be intrigued, do more, absorb the people around you, be proactive, and keep learning. There was a TED Talk I listened to that touched on how, as adults, we often stop asking questions and our curiosity fades over time. I think keeping that sense of curiosity is really important, both personally and professionally.
