Agency Spotlight Series: Rebecca Hall

In this Orientation Marketing agency spotlight series, we speak to Senior PR & Communications Manager, Rebecca Hall.

Occasionally, we speak to a member of the Orientation Marketing team to learn more about their roles at Orientation Marketing, as well as what makes them tick.

Today we speak to Becca.

Tell Us a Little Bit About Your Role At Orientation Marketing.

I manage content and communications programs for our clients, working alongside Chris and Sofie. Projects include creating and editing a wide range of assets including executive summaries, articles, blogs, sell sheets and brochures, as well as the development of press releases, media announcements, and earned‑media pitches and placements. I also track coverage, prepare reports, and evaluate project performance.

In short, I help our clients articulate their story and build meaningful connections with their audiences.

What does your average day look like?

Probably unlike one you’ve seen before! I have a flexible working arrangement that allows me to look after my two young daughters (aged 4 and 2) while contributing to the agency. So, an average day for me can include watching my eldest perform one of her homemade ‘dance shows’, wrestling play doh out of the mouth of the youngest, and then shifting into writing and editing content, developing communications plans, hosting calls with our US‑based clients, and moving projects forward in tandem with Chris and Sofie.

I’m genuinely grateful to the agency’s Leadership team for creating the flexibility that enables me to balance these two roles. It also means we’re able to offer stronger support and broader coverage for our growing roster of US clients.

How did you come about working in Marketing?

I’ve always loved storytelling and writing, and I bring an equal blend of creativity and analytical, logical thinking to my work. So, I had to find a career that balances words with numbers, stories with data…it could only be Marketing!

Tell us about an interesting project you are working on right now.

One of the things I love most about my job is the sheer variety of projects I get to work on at any given time. Lately, I’ve been partnering with a few clients on a particularly rewarding task: reviewing trade‑publication editorial calendars and mapping them against each client’s capabilities to identify strong feature opportunities. It’s the kind of proactive communications work many companies would value but rarely have the bandwidth to do themselves, so it’s especially satisfying to deliver it on their behalf.

What inspires you?

Progress motivates me. I’m driven by the challenge of improving, whether it’s a process, a project, or myself. And honestly, my children are a huge part of that. I want to show them what continuous growth looks like and to always try their best. We should all strive to leave things better than we found them.

Recommend a TV series/film you recently watched.

I recently re-watched The Big Short (probably for the 7,345,086th time!) and I never tire of it. It’s a mix of comedy and docudrama, and is exactly my style of humour, although I concede this probably wouldn’t appeal to everyone. I love how it breaks the fourth wall too to explain some of the financial jargon.

What was your favourite band 10 years ago?

10 years ago, it was (and still is, actually) Leeds-based Hope & Social – probably the best band you’ve never heard of. Incredibly, they agreed to perform at my wedding back in 2018, and it was just wonderful. It’s hard to categorize them – a little bit indie, a little bit folk, a little bit rock – but I promise, they’re like nothing you’ve seen before. Look them up, trust me.

Which fictional family would you want to be part of?

The Weasley Family from Harry Potter. I would love to read a spin-off series dedicated to this family.

What is the best marketing tip you can give?

Plan. Regardless of project size, always put a plan together.

Inevitably unplanned projects will arise, and of course priorities change, but creating a plan, even just a 1-pager, will be invaluable – it’ll help you focus and ensure your campaign/communication actually supports your objectives.

What skill do you think everyone should learn?

Critical thinking. It helps you spot weak arguments, avoid being misled, and make choices based on clarity rather than impulse.
