Today we speak to Dave Hall.

Tell Us a Little Bit About Your Role At Orientation Marketing?

My role as Creative/Design Lead involves understanding client objectives, and how we can deliver to, and beyond expectations. I employ strategic and creative thinking – to deliver effective and appropriate design solutions. I love what I do, and feel that this comes across in what I do. 

What Does Your Average Day Look Like?

Each day starts with a coffee, while catching up on the latest sports news. Then it’s checking (twice), that I have everything I will need for the office that day – when I am not working from home. Then it’s connecting with each member of the team to say hi, and plan out the day.

How Did You Come About Working In Marketing?

I fell in love with the creative industry when I saw an Audi advert many years ago – I knew I wanted to be a graphic designer from that point. My career has grown and evolved to incorporate branding, internal comms, corporate literature, advertising and event communications – all of which obviously work in partnership with good marketing.

Tell Us About An Interesting Project You Are Working On Right Now.

I am currently working on a project to raise the profile and value of an existing brand. In an industry typical for its conservative profile – it is an exciting challenge to test traditional thinking against new ideas, reposition opinion, build on existing success, evolve existing relationships and attract new ones.  

What Inspires You?

Both my daughters inspire me in how they approach different challenges in their lives. Learning, adapting and working hard to achieve what they want. My wife also inspires me the way that she looks after the three of us – listening to us and offering support and advice, at the same time as being a good and caring teaching assistant at the school that our girls once attended.

Recommend A Film You Recently Watched.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I’m a big comic fan, and the illustration and animation in this ‘film’ is amongst the best I have seen in terms of diversity of style, creativity and visual story flow.

How Would You Spend A Million Dollars?

Ensuring all or my family were financially secure – then creating a holiday fund to visit Hawaii, New York (again), New Zealand… The list goes on, I love exploring, and experiencing new places and people.   

What’s The Best Marketing Tip You Can Give?

Ensure that you and the client are ‘on the same page’.
Understand your audience, and how to communicate effectively with them.
Give them what they want/need… and a little bit more. 

Dave has 32 years’ experience working as a Creative/Design Director, Head of Design and most recently Creative Lead. He has worked with and built relationships with clients such as Unilever, Pfizer, Roche, GSK, Sanofi and Johnson & Johnson. His approach is to apply strategic-thinking, creative idea generation and effective design application, through collaborative teamwork to create outstanding work, achieve client and project objectives. He brings a forensic level of detail to Orientation Marketing’s internal quality assurance process, ensuring that projects are on-brief, on-budget and on-time, delivered to the high standards of the agency’s ethos.
